Our Commitment to Social Justice

As an organization, the LSPO stands alongside our families of color, guaranteeing our dedication to supporting and driving the radical change and repair necessary to ensure that ALL members of our LS community are treated with equal respect, safety, opportunity, and justice.
Our first step is this statement. Our next step is looking within.

We commit to doing the inner work to become aware of how racism lives within us and how it is perpetuated through us. We believe that as parents/guardians who model the beliefs and behaviors that our students bring to LS, this is of critical importance.

As we work to create a more inclusive environment for all our students and families, we’ll also continue to advocate strongly for change in the overall racial climate here at LS. Being purposeful in our acts of kindness towards one another is key, including the intent to always come from a place of love, compassion and empathy.

Finally, we commit to speaking up when necessary, holding each other accountable, and being willing to be held accountable. Collectively we’ll strive to create an experience and academic environment that guarantees equality in our students’ sense of comfort and welcome within the LS community.

With that, we wish you a reflective AND refreshing couple of months that will hopefully provide the “reset” we’ll all need to tackle the school year ahead (however that will look!).

In gratitude for all that you do as parent/guardians,
Your Co-Chairs, Lauren Hochberg, Deanna Clarance & Monica Singletary
