What are class steering committees?
The Steering Committee is a group of students, faculty, and parents from a specific graduating class who will meet regularly to support the student club members while they plan and carry out activities that foster class unity. This includes fundraising activities that are used to defray the cost of the Junior and Senior Proms, make possible other large class events, fund Senior Week activities and enhance each student’s time at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.
What is the House System at LS?
LS is organized in a house system: East, West North and South Houses. Ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade students are divided among the four houses. Each house is staffed by an associate principal, guidance counselors, and a house assistant, with access to a clinical counselor and curriculum/scheduling support. Additional services are provided through Special Education. Each student has a mailbox in their house office that they should check regularly for notices.
Can I plan vacations until the day before school starts?
You can, but make sure your student is not trying out for a fall sport (if that’s the case, then no, you cannot plan vacations until the day before school)
Can you go up or down a level after you choose your courses?
Yes, but there is a very short period of time to do so. Students need to communicate with their counselor.
How many Advanced Placement courses does LS offer?
Advanced Placement Program® courses are offered in Biology, Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Computer Science Principles, Physics C:Mechanics, Statistics, 2-D Art & Design, and U.S. History.
Can my child take more than one AP class during the year?
Yes, but we suggest they talk to their counselor to make sure their schedule and course load will be well balanced.
Can my child take two languages?
Yes. However, taking two languages will use the spot of another elective so the student will have fewer electives. We suggest talking to their counselor before deciding course elections.
What type of parent involvement is expected in High School?
Students are expected to be accountable for their own studies and communication with teachers. Parents can get access to information through different means (Aspen-Follett, LSPO newsletters, Superintendent’s emails and LS administrative emails, LSRHS website, LSPO website, LSPO FB page). Parents are invited to participate in LSPO sponsored events, volunteer at the LSPO and support teacher lead initiatives.
Would languages impact my student’s college application?
Colleges like to see at least two (2) years of one language.
What are some recommendations for Graduation Day?
Bring a hat, water and sunscreen! If you want to be close to the podium, get there early. Students can decorate their caps, which makes it easier to spot them from behind.
Does LS provide Cap and Gown for seniors?
LS will send out an email for you to buy your senior’s cap and gown. You can also borrow from previous students since the cap and gown is the same one.
Who can order a Yearbook?
Any student can order a Yearbook; however, some students only choose to do so during their senior year. Visit the LSRHS Yearbook page for information about purchasing a yearbook as well as pricing, deadlines, senior portraits, senior quotes and senior dedications.
Sports
When are tryouts for Fall Sports?
Most Fall varsity sports have tryouts BEFORE the beginning of the school year. Usually, tryouts are held the week before school starts. You can check the school athletic webpage.
What does it mean to be on a varsity team?
Most varsity teams practice 5 or 6 days a week. Athletes cannot skip practices due to homework, other sports and clubs or other commitments. If your student has to miss a practice, he/she/they need to communicate with the coach. In most cases, this might impact their ability to participate in the following meet/tournament. Athletes need to abide to MIAA rule.
Can you be on multiple teams if you try out for varsity and JV?
LS Varsity sports have a bona fide rule which implies athletes commit to the team, practices and games. This means athletes cannot skip practices or games due to other sports (or clubs).
Where does the Swim Team practice?
LS does not have a pool; the Swim and Dive team practices at Atkinson pool at Sudbury Park and Recreation Center, 40 Fairbank Rd. Students organize carpools to get to practice.

What is Senior Safe Night (formerly Jamaica Jammin’)?
After the graduation ceremony (usually held on a Sunday), the seniors are invited to spend the night at Senior Safe Night at LS. This is a safe graduation party; parents of 9th, 10th and 11th grade students volunteer to run the different activities and it goes from 9 pm to 5 am. Students cannot leave the building until that time. Senior parents can volunteer to prepare and clean up the party. Different types of activities are prepared for the night, with games, raffle, casino, food and more to keep everybody entertained. Senior Safe Night Website
